PhD Candidate, UBC

Anamaria (Ana) Crisan is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia and is researching the ways that data visualization can support decision making for communicable disease prevention and control. Ana’s background is in bioinformatics and applied statistics, but one day she noticed that when she used data visualization effectively it made it easier to get the message across to a wider audience. She joined forces with Drs. Jennifer Gardy & Tamara Munzner to pursue to explore this interesting research topic further. Prior to her studies, Ana was gainfully employed at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, where she worked with Dr. Jennifer Gardy, and before that at a local biotech startup developing genomic prognostics tests for prostate cancer.
